$10,000 Grant to Support Ohio County Schools Family Resource Centers
Multi-school funding will empower Family Resource Centers at Fordsville, Horse Branch, Southern, and Western elementary schools to support student success.
The Weedman Family Charitable Giving Fund is proud to announce a $10,000 grant awarded to Ohio County Schools to directly support the Family Resource Centers (FRCs) across four district elementary schools: Fordsville Elementary School, Horse Branch Elementary School, Southern Elementary School, and Western Elementary School.
Reaching the Schools That Need It Most
This targeted funding is dedicated to the four elementary schools in the district identified as having the most limited resources. Kentucky's Family Resource and Youth Services Centers (FRYSCs) play a vital role in bridging gaps for students and families. While FRCs serve elementary students and their families, Youth Services Centers (YSCs) support middle and high school students. Together, these centers work tirelessly to remove non-academic barriers that may prevent students from achieving their full potential in school.
What This Grant Will Enable
The grant will enable these centers to connect families with essential resources, including:
- Food and clothing assistance for students and families in need
- Health and mental health services to support whole-child wellness
- Attendance support to keep students engaged and in school
- Family assistance programs that strengthen the home environment
- Community partnerships that connect families to critical local resources
By building strong, collaborative partnerships between schools, families, and the wider community, the FRCs ensure that every child has the comprehensive support they need to learn, grow, and succeed.
A Commitment to Every Child
"Supporting our local schools and ensuring that every child has an equal opportunity to thrive is at the heart of our mission," said a representative for the Weedman Family Charitable Giving Fund. "By directing these resources to the Family Resource Centers at Fordsville, Horse Branch, Southern, and Western elementary schools, we are helping to provide a vital safety net for our most resource-limited students and families right here in Ohio County."
